Cataracts is the clouding of the lens causing cloudy vision. First eye cataract Surgery is restricted to reduced visual acuity after refractive correction OR the patient meets the criteria listed within the policy. Second eye cataract Surgery has further restrictions.
Meibomian cyst (fluid-filled swelling on eyelid) often spontaneously resolve without the need of surgery. Therefore restrictions have been applied to the surgical removal of meibomian cysts, which are listed within the policy.
Photodynamic therapy (light-sensitive medication used with a light source to destroy abnormal cells) is not routinely commissioned for the management of chronic serous chorionic retinopathy.
