Comments

RED: 

  • NICE TA245: prevention of VTE after total hip and knee replacement.  (Decision date - February 2012)
GREEN:
  • NICE TA275: for preventing stroke and systemic embolism in people with non-valvular atrial fibrillation as per local guidance. Preferred first line choice. Twice daily administration. (Decision date - March 2024)

GREEN (following consultant/specialist initiation):

  • NICE TA341: for the treatment and secondary prevention of deep vein thrombosis and/or pulmonary embolism. (Decision date - July 2015).

DNP: 

  • Eliquis brand. Generic preparation available. (Decision date - March 2024)
For patients that are already on Eliquis prior to the DNP classification treatment should be continued until the next clinical review where their NHS clinician will decide whether it is appropriate to switch.
