Comments

GREY:

  • Topical clindamycin (Dalacin T lotion) may be used in localised Hidradenitis Suppurativa on dermatologist advice as per PCDS guideline. Not to be used with oral antibiotics.  (Off-label use).  (Decision date - May 2022).
  • 2% vaginal cream (Dalacin) for the treatment of recurrent bacterial vaginosis, as a second line alternative option after treatment failure and or intolerance to metronidazole and dequalinium.
(Note: metronidazole (oral and vaginal gel) and dequalinum are cost effective choices ahead of clindamycin in the treatment of bacterial vaginosis).  (Decision date - December 2016).

DO NOT PRESCRIBE (DNP):

  • Do not use topical clindamycin to treat acne as monotherapy (topical antibiotic) for new patients. See acne guidance for further details. (Decision date - October 2021).
