GREEN consultant/specialist recommendation: indicated for herpes simplex eye infections. Urgently refer all patients with suspected herpes simplex eye infection to the hospital eye department. Only prescribe antiviral eye preparation after specialist advice when a same day secondary care appointment is not available.
