GREEN: for epilepsy after specialist initiation (Decision date - August 2013).

GREEN: 3rd line for neuropathic pain (Decision date - April 2023). - see neuropathic pain in primary care guideline

GREEN after specialist initiation: specialist initiation for generalised anxiety disorder where SSRIs or venlafaxine are ineffective, poorly tolerated or considered clinically inappropriate (Decision date - May 2014)

DO NOT PRESCRIBE (DNP): Lecaent and Lyrica brand are BLACK for non-epilepsy conditions. (Decision date - July18 and August 2019)

For epilepsy:

Pregabalin is a category 3 anti-epileptic.  If the patient is currently prescribed Lyrica or Lecaent, a discussion should be had with the patient/carer before switching to a generic alternative.  Potential for clinically relevant differences between different manufacturers products is considered to be extremely low (Drug Safety Update volume 11, issue 4, November 2017:5).
