RED1,2: Fluoride mouthwash, oral drops, tablets and toothpaste are prescribable on form FP10D by specialist dental services only

GREY after consultant/specialist recommendation: Only for patients who are undergoing radiotherapy to the head and neck region not registered with an NHS dentist. In this circumstance they can be prescribed in general practice on the recommendation of oncology/radiology (decision date October 2025)

Red Drug Classifications

  • 1: Requiring specialist assessment to enable patient selection, initiation and ongoing treating
  • 2: Requiring long term on-going monitoring of efficacy by a specialist and not suitable for shared care
